Yellow Warbler (Setophaga petechia)

Abundance: Uncommon during spring, summer, and early fall; Very Uncommon early September and thereafter; recorded in all Regional counties (Map of UCR Distribution); data from Regional bird-monitoring efforts are too few to determine a trend in the populations breeding in, or migrating through, the Region (see also Regional Bird Monitoring Plan).

Status: Summer Resident; specimen (9 June 1938; Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky; W. M. Perrygo; Wetmore 1940); photograph [lateral view of alternate-plumaged female slightly obscured by vegetation] (Stephen J. Stedman; Cane Creek Park, Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee; 5 May 2002).

YardWatch Results 2003 and 2004: Registered on 5 (of 125 possible) monthly check-lists during 2003 and on 13 (of 206 possible) check-lists during 2004, leading to YardWatch frequency classifications of Rare and Uncommon, respectively; YardWatch results for the latter, but not the former, year compare favorably with the overall Regional abundance classification of this warbler.
