Abundance: Uncommon at all seasons; recorded in all Regional counties (Map of UCR Distribution); data from the Regional bird-monitoring efforts reveal a long-term moderately positive trend in the population breeding in (or migrating through) the Region (see also Regional Bird-Monitoring Plan).

Regional High Count and CBC/CBB High Count: 11 (29 December 2007; Pulaski County, Kentucky [Somerset CBC]; m. ob.); FBC/FBB High Count: 7 (19 September 2009; Putnam County, Tennessee [FBC]; m. ob.); SBC/SBB High Count: 7 (10 May 1997; Putnam County, Tennessee [FBC]; m. ob. and 10 May 2008; Putnam County, Tennessee [FBC]; m. ob. and 6 May 2006; White County, Tennessee [SBC]; m. ob.).

Breeding: Confirmed (Recent). 

Habitat: Appears to favor urban and suburban sites as much as more rural ones.

YardWatch Results 2003 and 2004: Registered on 34 (of 125) monthly check-lists during 2003 and on 55 (of 206) check-lists during 2004, resulting in YardWatch frequency classifications of Fairly Common and Uncommon, respectively; the latter YardWatch frequency  classification is consistent with the overall Regional abundance classification, but the former indicates that the Cooper's Hawk was a bit more frequent in Regional yards and neighborhoods during that year than it was around the Region as a whole.
