Abundance: Occasional; 2 records, 1 in each of 2 Kentucky counties (Map of UCR Distribution); data from the Regional bird-monitoring efforts are too few to determine a trend in the population visiting the Region (see also Regional Bird-Monitoring Plan).

Status: Visitor during fall (1 or 2 records) and possibly during spring; photograph (see above).

3 August 2006 (1—adult) Clifty Pond, Pulaski County, Kentucky (Roseanna M. Denton photo [see above]).

Regional Extreme Dates:

    Spring: 1 or no records (see Remarks [below]).

    Fall: 3 August 2006 (Pulaski County, Kentucky; Roseanna M. Denton); no other records.

Habitat: 

YardWatch Results 2003 and 2004: no registrations.

Remarks: the record from Barren County, Kentucky, was made by David L. Roemer, who did not note the date of this sighting and cannot now (September 2013) be sure of even the decade when it was made, except that it was a pre-Twenty-first Century record.
