Abundance: Occasional; 2 Regional records in 2 Tennessee counties, each involving a single individual (Map of UCR Distribution).
Status: Visitor during spring (1 record) and fall (1 record); sight records.
Information on Records:
17 May 2004 (1—flying) easternmost bridge over the Caney Fork River on I-40, Putnam/Smith counties, Tennessee (K. Dean Edwards; Casteel 2004c).
7 October 2008 (1—immature) Cane Creek Park, Cookeville, Putnam County, Tennessee (Nancy S. Layzer, Ginger K. Ensor).
Habitat: shallow wetlands of various sorts.
YardWatch Results 2003 and 2004: no records.
Remarks: The first record was obtained at the county line for Putnam and Smith counties; thus the species is described as occurring in two counties.
