The first bird survey of any kind during the fall season in McCreary County, KY, was conducted 2 October 2010, when four observers in four field parties tallied over 2000 individuals of 97 species. Two species—Northern Waterthrush and Wilson's Warbler—were recorded in McCreary County for the first time ever. Some late-lingering summer residents and early-arriving winter residents were also recorded as part of this effort to monitor the bird populations in the county.
