27 December 2019 Today I was a participant in the Hodgensville, KY, CBC, working with Brooks Atherton; this count was the 198th of my CBC career. Looking forward to number 200 next year.. 21 December 2019 Today I was a participant in the Crossville, TN, CBC; I found 53 species on this date while working in the southern part of the CBC circle. 19 December 2019 On this date I was a participant in and compiler of the Barren River Lake CBC, working with Dave Roemer; we recorded 77 species while members of other parties added another 9 species to this total. Most interesting species was a Lesser Black-backed Gull identified by Dave in the large gull roost that forms each winter night on the lake. At least 10,000 Ring-billed Gulls were present along with the LBBG, which was the first of its kind to be recorded on this CBC, and perhaps on any other CBC in the UCR. 17 December 2019 Today I was a participant in the Glasgow, KY, CBC, working with Dave Roemer; we found 54 species including Greater White-fronted Goose, a species not recorded on this CBC in its previous 67-year history. |
6 November 2019 Today two new species were added to the UCR bird list, including a Wood Stork found near the village of Nancy in Pulaski County, KY. |
